first date:

One of our first dates was a morning and afternoon spent in Boston.  After a coffee, we took the T into Boston and spent the day just walking around.  We made an obligatory stop at the ducklings and then ducked in and out of shops on Newbury for a bit.

While in a Williams-Sonoma of all places, we decided it was time for dinner.  I told Annie to grab a few cookbooks and figure out what she wanted.

We took the T back out to Newton, stopped at the market across the street from the apartment, and I cooked her the dinner she selected out of the cookbooks.

John and Annie met while neighbors in an apartment at 1133 Beacon St. in Newton, Mass.

Annie comes from Wrentham, Mass. After graduating from Regis College in 1997  she decided to pursue her Masters in Elementary Education from Lesley University.  She recently joined the faculty of the Sprague School in Wellesley as a third grade teacher. She is number ten of twelve children to Dr. and Mrs. Richard Grady.

When I’m not missing someone far away, I can be found traveling the world: using the 11 words of Spanish and Italian that I know and documenting errors in the Lonely Planet guidebooks.  I'm also fond of locking myself out of my apartment--and if my upstairs neighbor wasn't so nice, you might not be reading this website!

John comes from Topsham, Maine.  He graduated from West Point in 1995 and served in the Army in numerous overseas assignments from 1995 to 2000.  He is currently a logistics contractor for the US military in Afghanistan.  He is the youngest of Joe and Cecile Marro’s five children.

I enjoy getting lost in foreign countries (avoiding Vespas in the crowded back alleys of Naples or driving on the wrong side of the street thru a pedestrian zone in Dublin).  Other pastimes include missing hiking trips, missing hockey seasons and going to Irish-sounding pubs...waiting for a "Tipsy McStaggers" to open in the Old Port.  I have always wanted to but never been on a Duck Boat.
